Can I Use My Ceiling Fan During Autumn?
In most parts of the country, fall is when the summer sun is a distant memory and autumnal breezes become the new norm. However, when heating your home on those chilly days, there is a chance that a room may become stagnant — as if the air isn’t moving at all.
If that’s the case, consider using your ceiling fan — but first, make sure to clean it; here’s how.
Autumnal Ceiling Fan Tips
Give Your Ceiling Fan a Deep Clean
One of the most put-off cleaning tasks by many homeowners is to wipe down their ceiling fans. However, it’s essential to give it a deep cleaning to not only help its performance but to help cut back on the spread of various allergens (attached to the blades) around the room.
To get this done:
- Turn the fan off and wipe down each blade, individually, with a clean microfiber cloth.
- If there happens to be a light element attached, see if you can safely remove the light's cover and put it in the dishwasher.
- Once this is complete, and the light cover is reattached, take a vacuum and clean up any debris that may have fallen to the floor.
After that, it’s time to set your fan in a new motion for autumn.
Adjust the Rotation of Your Ceiling Fan
Now, to help keep a room feeling fresh — and eliminate any potential of a chill — you’ll want to set your ceiling fan to rotate in a clockwise direction. This will help circulate the air without adding any cold air into the room. Within a matter of minutes, you’ll feel the refreshing difference!
