Spring Cleaning 101: Your Yard

With the weather finally getting warmer, it’s time to move the spring cleaning outdoors! While landscaping, pool clean up, and patio set up might come to mind, they shouldn’t be the only things on your list. Below are just some of things you should be adding to your to-do list to get your yard summer-ready:

Test Sump Pump

Your pump should be tested and cleaned annually. You can test it by pouring a bucket of water into the pit to make sure it’s efficiently removing the water and shutting off. To clean, check and remove any dirt or debris that might be causing a clog.

Inspect The Faucets

Check all outdoor faucets and hose bibs for any cracks or leaks. Even the smallest drip should be repaired as it can increase your water bill and cause further issues down the line.

Inspect Windows

While you are cleaning all your windows and screens, closely check for drafts. Improperly sealed windows can severely reduce the effectiveness of your cooling system.

Check Around Your AC

If you have an outdoor unit, you should be keeping the area around it clean. For proper air flow, branches and vegetation should always be 2 feet away from the condenser and make a note to remove any winter covering before use.

Getting your yard ready this spring will leave you with an enjoyable and stress-free summer.
