A house becomes a home because of the things that bring warmth and comfort to it. The HVAC systems brings warmth in the winter and cool comfort in the summer. Kitchen appliances provide you with the ability to store and prep your food which is important because food is everything! While laundry room appliances keep your clothes clean so you feel comfortable at all times. However, not all of these appliances last a lifetime.

HVAC System: 15 years
First off, if your current HVAC system is from before the change of the millennium, it should be replaced with a more energy efficient model. The average unit is only efficient for roughly 15 years, but this can be a lot shorter if you don’t keep up with its maintenance. All heating and cooling systems should have their air filters changed monthly as well as having annual services to ensure there are no parts that need to be replaced.

Refrigerator: 13 Years
The refrigerator is the one appliance that runs 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. With this non-stop running and multiple working parts, small repairs are oftentimes needed to keep this bad boy in operation. However, the compressor will eventually begin to break down, which is the sign that you will need to replace this appliance.

Washing Machine: 14 years
The number one rule for making washing machines last is to abide by the load limits. Overloading washing machines will increase wear and tear on the unit, causing premature replacement. For front loading machines, watch out for leaky doors thanks to damaged gaskets. For top loading machines, keep an eye out for possible rusting.
