Forced-Air Vs. Radiant Floor Heating

It’s been over 15 years since you’ve installed your current heating system and it’s time for a replacement. Rather than getting the same exact system you had, do some homework on all of your available options. While forced air heating systems are great, you’ll be surprised at the benefits of radiant floor heating.

Why Forced Air Isn’t the Top Heating Option
The biggest problem with forced air heating systems isn’t that they warm your home quickly, but that they cool off just as fast. This means that the forced air system will be kicking on and off constantly to keep a level temperature. This back and forth of turning on and off will wear and tear away at your unit while also costing you a fortune on your energy bills each month. The money spending doesn’t just stop here thanks to the ductwork. Since the warm air travels from the furnace to the vents, the temperature of the traveling air will decrease the further it has to travel — raising your bills even higher!

Why Radiant Floor Heating Is the Top Heating Option
Since this heating system is installed directly beneath the floor you’re standing on, there is no heat loss. Radiant floor heating will provide you with heat right at your feet, making you more comfortable. Since you will feel the heat with each step, most homeowners will also set the thermostat to a lower temperature. Between having a lower thermostat setting, no blowers to power, and no heat loss to deal with, energy bills will decrease by roughly 30 percent or more!

For those with wood flooring throughout their home, think twice about replacing your current heating system with a forced air model.
